Hormone therapy with estrogen alone may increase the risk of endometrial cancer in women with a uterus who do not also take a progestogen. This is why progesterone is prescribed alongside estradiol for women with a uterus.
Do not use estradiol if you have or have had certain estrogen-sensitive cancers, unexplained vaginal bleeding, or a history of blood clots, stroke, or heart attack without first discussing with your doctor.
