Do I need a blood test to get hormone therapy?
For most women 45+, no. The Menopause Society and ACOG guidelines state that menopause and perimenopause are diagnosed clinically, by age and symptoms. Hormone levels fluctuate daily during this transition, so a single blood test can be misleading. If your provider believes labs are needed in your specific case, they’ll let you know.
How long until I feel a difference?
It varies. In clinical studies, many women notice changes in hot flashes within a few weeks, and it can take up to about 12 weeks to see the full effect. Your provider can adjust your treatment if needed. Individual results vary.
What if my dose isn’t right?
Dose adjustments are part of your plan. Message your care team, and your provider will review and adjust your prescription if appropriate, at no extra consultation cost.
Is hormone therapy safe?
For most healthy women under 60 or within 10 years of menopause onset, The Menopause Society considers that the benefits of hormone therapy generally outweigh the risks. Hormone therapy isn’t right for everyone and it does carry risks, including blood clots and stroke, and, for estrogen alone in women with a uterus, endometrial cancer. Your provider will review your health history and these risks with you before prescribing.
Why do I need progesterone too?
If you have a uterus, progesterone protects its lining while you take estrogen. Our providers prescribe micronized progesterone alongside estradiol.
Is the evaluation really free?
Yes. Your online evaluation — a complete medical review of your health history by a licensed provider, plus their treatment recommendation — is free. You’re only charged for treatment if your provider prescribes it, so if treatment isn’t right for you, you pay nothing.
Where is MyPause available?
MyPause is available in all 50 U.S. states. Services are available only in jurisdictions where affiliated medical providers are licensed to practice and where pharmacy partners are authorized to dispense medications. Availability may vary by state and is subject to applicable laws, regulations, and licensure requirements.
Can I use insurance?
MyPause is cash-pay and doesn’t bill insurance. Our pricing is transparent and often less than copays plus specialist visits. You may be able to use HSA/FSA funds — confirm with your plan administrator.
What’s your refund policy?
You can pause or cancel your subscription anytime from your account, effective on your next billing cycle. Because medications are dispensed and shipped specifically for you, dispensed medication is not refundable. Full details in our Refund Policy.
Is this perimenopause or menopause? I still get periods.
Perimenopause (the years leading up to your final period) can bring the same symptoms and is treatable too. Our providers evaluate and treat both.
